Mrs Krabusch reported yesterdays activity: every fifteen minutes there were lava fountains about 100 meters high, during the day.

Surfing on web German people could stop at Thomas Sävert’s page about Etna.

It seems our ‘little’ belgian cousins realized their dream.

They opened a lovely business in France and I would love to see it personally next year.

It seems they created a little corner of paradise and I am happy for them!

I phoned “Funivia dell’Etna” (cable car society) to ask about activity. They told me yesterday Sud Est did some explosions but in this moment nothing happens. Anyway this morning it was possible to hear clearly noise of explosions here from hotel.

about last new there was a little mistake. September, 5th new (not 4th) is that one can explains why in June an eruption could occur for “unscientifical reasons”. Sorry. On 5th you find this: “It’s is incredible like every time mr. and mrs. Adlam-Stiles arrive in hotel as guest Etna welcomes them with a spectacular eruption. This is third time and they candidate to luckiest guests of our hotel.“

And the winner is… Ahti Heikkilä! Yesterday evening our friend and Etna lover saw some red in SE… but let’s listen his words: “[…]Today, in the evening I saw red lights on the Etna SE crater when I was looking the web camera of the Institute of Catania [INGV ndD]!!!

Seach´s First Law of Volcanology:
You will miss the eruption. ( As I y. 2001-2002!)
Corollary one: If two volcanoes are about to erupt, you will go to the wrong one.
Corollary two: If one volcano is about to erupt you will either get there one day too late,
or leave one day too early (As I did y. 2003!).
Corollary three: The vent will erupt while you are changing films.
Corollary four: The volcano will erupt while it is covered in clouds.
Corollary five: Y have to sleep sometime!
It almost allways happenes to me but on the next time I want to be there!!![…]”
Mr Heikkilä looks at our website almost everyday to discover if a new eruption has occurred. He will be glad today to know about a new possible eruption from his own words, eh eh

Good news from LaSicilia.it,

it seems ice-skating track in Nicolosi will open again.

Track will be open every day except Wednesday from 5p.m. to 9p.m..

Ticket cost should be € 4 (including skates) or € 2 (with own skates).

Bulding will be closed on New Year’s Day but will be open on Epiphany and all other dates.

Other good new, close to hotel on January, 1st it will be organized a night event: “Alba sull’Etna” (”Sunrise on Etna” TOD).

Boris comment to today’s activity: “The latest INGV update of today reports ongoing lava flows down to 2000 m elevation and explosion noises audible at Monte Zoccolaro.”. Mr and mrs Krabusch confirm report, they where enough close to Bottoniera during explosions.

Before all sorry to Boris but his comment got lost due to a website update. Webmaster rewrote a comment from that he remebered by Boris words but Boris original comment has been lost between Avalon’s fogs.

Boris corrected his past comment telling that eruption was not totally stopped. There are yet some little explosions in Bottoniera and even a short lava river.

Effectively yesterday evening I could see explosions from Giarre but lava river is probably very short.
